Lake McKenzie was the most crowded of the spots we visited on Fraser Island (and the only place on the Great Walk where we could not get a camp site). I had some pretty nasty blisters on my feet, but when we crested the last hill to this view, all discomfort was forgotten.
The main beach was being enjoyed by quite a few tourists, but there was still more than enough space for everyone.
But it doesn't take a lot of effort to get away from the crowds at Fraser Island (as you can see from the pictures above). We literally just swam out around the bend to a second, smaller beach that you can't see from the drive-in beach.
Lake McKenzie definitely lived up to its hype. A great place to linger.
