Misty Morning at Lake Jindabyne

I finally broke my two-year ski drought with a  trip to Thredbo this winter.

Yes, you can ski in Australia, and it can be quite good, it's just pricey! At Thredbo, it's $110 for a one-day lift pass, plus accommodation and fuel to get there, not to mention the parks pass at $27/per day.  I was a bit shaky and out of practice, but I still had fun! There was even some fresh snow fall:)

However I hope the snow bums will forgive my sacrilege when I confess that one of the highlights of my trip actually occurred on the drive home.

Would have loved to have lingered here long enough to enjoy a picnic brekky.

We were in a rush since my friend had to catch an afternoon flight. But then we saw the moon hovering in the west, the sun rising in the east, and that mist over Lake Jindabyne. How could you not stop for a view like this?

I  was a bit  heartbroken not to have had my  "proper camera"...but it's a safe bet our diversion would have lasted much longer than 15 minutes if I did! My phone coped alright and we left with enough time to spare. Phew!

Except then we saw these spectacular frosty trees in the morning light. It's almost enough to convert me to a morning person!

Yes, this is Australia!

My friend rescheduled his flight. It was worth it:)
